The first bullet the rebels fired was a bullet in the head of any secularist, democratic and pro-workers’ and pro-women’s rights movement.

War kills the moderates and only leaves the extremes.

the war in Syria is about Iran, Saudi and Israel. Israel want a weak Syria unable or unwilling to support Iran or their proxy in Lebanon the Hezbollah. This would give Israel greater power over Lebanon and greatly weaken Iran and their ability to strike back at Israel.

The Saudis want Syria under the rule of Sunni specifically Sunni Arabs who owe allegiance to the Saudi as they fear the Shia arc and want to create their Salafi empire.

Iran naturally want Assad to stay in power and Syria to stay on their side as through him they have access to Lebanon

The Americans probably have no idea who they want to win none look good.

Each one will result in an extreme outcome a general blood bath and lots of refugees with the potential to destabilise neighboring countries.

I'm sorry the actual outcome is unknown but any supporters of secularist, democratic, pro-workers’ or pro-women’s rights will be the second to die after the victors immediate enemy of course. Just look at the outcome of any violent revolution.
